Reporting to and partnering with the president and CEO, the chief financial officer (CFO) will drive CW’s financial performance, by setting The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation’s financial direction, plan and policy while also being an active participant in, and driver of, the organization’s overall strategy. The CFO will lead all financial administration, business planning, business modeling, and budgeting. The CFO is responsible to insure that CWF KPIs (financial and non-financial) are best-in-class as measured by objective industry benchmarks and BKMs. As a member of the senior leadership team, the CFO will work closely with other key members of the finance team and governance committee of the board of directors.
WORK TO BE PERFORMED:
Partner with the president on all operational and strategic issues; provide appropriate recommendations to the president based on financial analysis, business modeling, industry best-known-methods (BKMs) and projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis.
Successfully implement and manage strategic planning and oversight of annual budget process and guidelines, to include capital projects.
Participate in the ongoing business planning process as an integral member of the senior management team and establish independent performance benchmarks for key planning parameters.
Oversee long-term budgetary planning and cost management in alignment with CWF’s strategic plan.
Recommend profit making opportunities and options to the CEO, and other members of the senior management team.
Successfully lead and negotiate third party financing efforts; challenge third party advisors and financial institutions for creative solutions of financing needs.
Develop and implement successful and efficient administrative, control and accounting systems, processes and procedures including internal audits in accordance with industry BKMs.
Engage the board finance committee around issues, trends, and changes in the operating model and operational delivery.
Attend Board and Subcommittee meetings; including being the lead staff on the Audit/Finance Committee.

Proven success and experience as a CFO position in a significant size corporate, non-profit, or commercial organization.
The CFO will be a leader with15 years or more of broad finance experience, gathering and evaluating financial information and making actionable recommendations to senior leadership. S/he will ideally have experience managing finance, financial analysis, budgeting, accounting, control, and reporting.

Previous experience in Public Accounting (CPA Preferred).
Skills in examining, developing, reengineering, and recommending financial policies and procedures.
