Cherry Tree provides an excellent opportunity to gain an expansive breadth of hands-on leadership experience across all aspects of various buy-side, sell-side, and capital raising engagements. The prospective candidate will work with senior bankers in new business development, leading client engagements, and managing a team of Associates and Analysts. The team you lead will be active in preparing presentation materials to communicate our ideas and findings to clients, preparing compelling evaluation materials used in sell-side and capital raising engagements, preparing market and strategic adjacency analyses used in buy-side engagements, and supporting due diligence efforts related to client engagements. Specific duties will include project managing prospect pitches and client engagements, presenting to and engaging with prospects and clients, creating and overseeing the development of pitches and evaluation materials, and the training and managing of Associates and Analysts.
The ideal candidate must be mature, hard-working, intelligent, and resourceful, with a strong interest in investment banking, as demonstrated by a strong background and meaningful experience in mergers & acquisitions. The candidate must have exceptional communication (especially written) and quantitative skills, as well as superior client relationship skills. The successful candidate must also be able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, and effectively lead and manage others. Prior experience in investment banking or corporate development is required.
As a Vice President at Cherry Tree you will work as Second Chair under the Managing Directors, creating appropriate project plans for engagements, proactively communicating status and managing resources, and overseeing, training, and directing Associates and Analysts. This position requires a securities license, and is eligible for transaction bonuses upon closings.
Project manage proposals, engagements, and the development of research reports
Support, contribute to, and manage the development of proposals for prospective clients, and participate in the presentation
Oversee and contribute to the drafting of informative and compelling evaluation materials (teasers, confidential information memoranda, and management presentations)
Support and help manage client engagements, expectations, and work closely with Managing Directors to ensure a successful outcome for our clients and our firm
Call and meet with potential acquisition targets on buy-side engagements, and with potential buyers/investors on sell-side and capital raising engagements
Negotiate with counterparties on specific issues and deal terms
Train Associates and Analysts, oversee and direct their work, and develop their necessary skill sets
Provide relevant insight and direct the work of the Associates and Analysts
Oversee the development of financial models and analyses
Draft research reports in concert with and under the direction of a Managing Director
Strong academic background from a respected four-year university
Preferred candidates will have an MBA with demonstrated outstanding academic achievement
Highly motivated individual with an exceptional work ethic
Extremely well organized with a keen attention to detail
Ability to prioritize, multi-task and work on multiple engagements simultaneously
Excellent communicator, in writing and speaking
Strengths in client service and client management

A demonstrated ability to thoroughly analyze financial statements, build complex financial models, advance the M&A and capital raising process and understand financial valuation techniques

Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills
Series 79 and 63 licenses (or willingness to get them)
Preference for at least four years of experience in M&A, Private Equity, Venture Capital, or Corporate Development
