CFO needed immediately for growing $120mm equipment rental business headquartered in the Chicago region and owned by private equity group very experienced in the industry. Firm is the result of four acquisitions over the past four years, with continued growth thru M&A activities likely in segment of market that is fairly resistant to recession. 12+% EBITDA margins increasing, and continued growth expected thru improving internal efficiencies, pricing improvements, and increasing scope of business while controlling overhead. PE firm is seeking experienced CFO who can help drive internal improvements, manage ongoing growth both organically and thru M&A, and deliver firm to liquidity event for current owners. Finance staff of 11 manages accounting, payroll, financial reporting, audit and treasury functions mostly from Chicago headquarters, supervising the results of 15 locations throughout the domestic US. Some overseas projects.
The CFO role has primary day-to-day “hands on” responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial and operational reporting. This includes direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting, capital expenditure analysis and working capital management. The role will have direct oversight of accounting and finance and will serve as direct conduit to the Private Equity firm. The CFO plays a key leadership role as to ERP, financial and operational management systems and process improvements. The CFO is expected to maintain strong systems and controls to safeguard corporate assets and ensure corporate policies are being followed, and is also responsible for managing ongoing banking relationships including covenant reporting. The CFO role is a critical tactical and strategic executive position working collaboratively with the company’s CEO, COO, management team and Board to execute on the strategic plan. CFO is expected to be a true “business partner” and work effectively across all functional areas of the company - to be a positive impact across the company and enhance the company’s culture internally as well with customers, suppliers and key third parties.
Candidates should possess:
Senior financial leadership roles in blue-collar manufacturing or distribution firms;
Experience working for focused and driven private equity ownership group;
Experience in managing and developing a financial staff;
Complex project finance management skills, including percentage-of-completion cost accounting;
Experience in structuring and executing M&A transactions;
Capital markets reporting experience;
Experience in merger integration;
Experienced in managing year-end audits, corporate risk management and insurance issues; IT system integration.
Experience in overseeing and managing IT and HR functions;
Experience in managing complex and geographically dispersed corporate structure.
Direct industry experience in high volume tangible product rentals, associated services, with labor and delivery components and an emphasis on customer service. Event planning, catering and/or hospitality industry experience a
leading finance in a multi-state, multi-facility organization with revenues of at least $100MM with proven ability to manage rapid growth and change on tight time frames;
leading finance, managing cash flow and working capital in a somewhat seasonal business cycle environment;
as a change leader/change agent to improve operating results and cash flow in underperforming business segments/divisions;
developing a high performing financial planning and analysis (FP&A) function including implementing/managing an effective, metrics-based (KPI) reporting package/process and a robust customer and vendor data analytics reporting process;
managing treasury functions including cash flow and working capital forecasting and liquidity planning;
working as a business partner across an organization including with operations and ;
building a value-add finance and accounting function to support the business and achieve strategic goals;
in a leadership capacity with ERP systems improvements, upgrades, and alignment of IT systems with corporate strategy;
working with lenders, auditors, insurance brokers and managing banking relationships including covenant reporting;
with acquisitions including post-closing integration and accounting implications in accordance with GAAP;
as a proactive business partner with the executive team, PE Firm and management team to report and achieve targeted
CPA license and/or MBA is preferred but not required.
Additional Salary Information: Bonus of up to 50% of base for reaching company-wide performance goals.
